Little Norway was a Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNAF) training centre in Canada that operated in Toronto and Muskoka from 1940 to 1945, training more than 3,000 personnel for the Norwegian resistance to German occupation during the Second World War. My new article in the Canadian Encyclopedia is about Norwegian-Canadian arctic explorer Henry Larsen . Larsen was captain and navigator of the RCMP ship St. Roch from 1927 until 1954 and head of the RCMP’s Arctic Division from 1948 until 1961. He was the first person to circumnavigate the North American continent, traverse the Northwest Passage from west to east and traverse the Northwest Passage in a single season.
